This policy explains what personal data Live Poker Events (“LPE”, “we”) handles on livepokerevents.com, why, who else is involved, and the choices and rights you have.
- Browsing LPE needs no account, sets no cookies and builds no profile of you.
- With an account, LPE keeps only what you add, and everything you add starts private.
- We do not sell your data, show advertising or use tracking pixels.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.
When you browse the site
- Hosting. Our hosting provider, Vercel, delivers every page. Like any web server it receives your IP address and standard request details, such as your browser and the page you asked for, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Statistics. We use Plausible Analytics, which sets no cookie and gives you no identifier. It receives the address of the public page you view, the site you came from, and your browser, device type and country, which it works out from the request. It also counts a few actions on public pages, such as opening a schedule or following a hotel, flight or live coverage link. Pages inside an account are never measured. Plausible stores this data on servers in Germany.
- Font. Pages load one emoji font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and request details.
- Maps. Venue maps load map tiles from OpenStreetMap and hotel locations from our database, which receive your IP address and request details.
- Links to other sites. Links to organisers, hotels, flights and live coverage are plain links: we add nothing to them that identifies you. Once you leave LPE, the other site’s own policy applies.
When you have an account
Accounts are currently by invitation only. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, so we keep that address, and which invitation code your account was created with. Beyond it, LPE keeps only what you add yourself:
- your profile: name, city, country, short bio, links, and profile and cover photos;
- your poker record: the record, cashes and cash-game locations you add, or your Hendon Mob link;
- your trips: the events you save, your schedule, stay, flights, budget, expenses and notes;
- what you play: the results and hands you log, and the event you check in at;
- your network: friend requests, friends, the players you follow and the players you block;
- your messages, and when you last opened your notifications and which conversations you hid;
- your privacy choices.
We never ask for a flight booking reference or any payment details.
To stop invitation codes being guessed, a wrong code is recorded with a one-way scrambled form of the email and network address it came from, never the address itself, and the record is deleted after two days.
Who sees what
- Everything starts private. Until you switch something on in Privacy & Visibility, only you see it.
- With “Show profile to other members” on, members can find you and see your name, city, country, bio, links and photos, follow you and send you a friend request.
- Your friends see your trips, the event you are checked in at, and your results and poker record, each only while you have it switched on. Money amounts and countries are separate choices. A check-in is shown until you check out, for at most 21 days.
- Your notes, stay, flights, budget and expenses are never shown to anyone else.
- Hands are shared one at a time, when you choose: with your friends, or with anyone who has the link. The link shows the cards and the title, never your name or notes. Players who follow you may also see a hand you share by link.
- Messages are seen only by you and the friend you write to. They can see when you have read their messages.
- A player you block is not told. From then on, neither of you can see, find, follow or message the other.
We do not read your messages or look at your account data. We would look at them only to answer a request from you, to deal with a report of abuse, or where the law requires it.
Why we use your data
- To provide your account and the features you use, including showing other members what you chose to share. This is necessary to provide the service you asked for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep LPE secure and working, prevent abuse and answer your requests. This is in our legitimate interest in running a safe service (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To understand how the public pages are used, through the cookieless statistics above. This is in our legitimate interest in improving the site (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To meet legal obligations where they apply (Article 6(1)(c)).
We do not use your data for advertising, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Who processes data for us
- Vercel — hosting and delivery of the site.
- Supabase — our database, sign-in and photo storage. The database is hosted in the EU, in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Plausible Analytics — cookieless statistics, hosted in Germany.
- Google — the emoji font.
- OpenStreetMap — map tiles.
They handle data only to provide their service to LPE. Some of them are based outside the EU/EEA or may reach data from outside it. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires: Vercel and Supabase use the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, and Vercel is also certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Your account data is kept until you delete it, or until you delete your account.
- Deleting removes it from our database and your photos from storage at once. Our database provider keeps daily backups for up to seven days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
- A message is kept until the player who sent it or the player who received it deletes their account. Hiding a conversation hides it only for you.
- A check-in is kept until you check out, check in somewhere else or delete your account.
- Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to deal with your request.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have it corrected — most of it you can edit yourself in your account;
- have it deleted — Settings → Delete account deletes your account and everything in it;
- have its use restricted, or object to a use based on our legitimate interest;
- receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable format.
Email support@livepokerevents.com and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to the data protection authority in the EU/EEA country where you live or work, or where you think your rights were infringed.
Cookies and browser storage
LPE sets no cookies. When you sign in, your browser stores your sign-in session so you stay signed in until you log out. While you browse, it also keeps two things on your device: on a touch screen, a count of your swipes between events, so the swipe tip stops showing once you know it; and the hotel list of a venue you viewed, so it shows at once next time (it is used for up to a week). Neither is sent to us, and clearing your browser’s site data removes both.
Security
Rules in the database itself decide who can reach each piece of data, so one member cannot read another member’s private data. Photos are private files shown through links that expire after an hour, and every connection to LPE is encrypted.
Age
LPE accounts are for people aged 18 or over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we will make it clear on LPE before it applies.
